Terms and Conditions
Thank you for trying 'HENSON DRIVING SCHOOL' and we hope you have enjoyed your first lesson with us. Since we started we have constantly striven to improve all aspects of driving tuition whilst trying to offer the best value. This is why we now operate a 5 grade-training plan, which the D.V.S.A is currently testing and is hoping to introduce to all instructors sometime in the future. Please take a few minutes to read the following terms and conditions, remembering to bring your completed acceptance form/training record card with you on your next lesson.
COSTS AND CANCELLATIONS
Lesson prices are currently £48.00 per hour for manual and automatic weekdays. I no longer work weekends unless in an emergency and the cost is £60 weekends and Bank Holidays. This is payable the day before each two hour lesson or three weeks prior if more then two hours are booked at the time. Deposits of £100 will be taken for long courses or lesson plans, payable to hold the dates booked and agreed with Simon. The full amount must be paid in full by three weeks before the start date otherwise the deposit would be lost unless agreed with Simon. Once the lesson plan is agreed, it cannot be changed without agreement and fees are chargeable for lost time or days. We are happy to accept cheques- these must be made payable to:

When taking your driving test 2 hours will be payable, this covers one hour tuition prior to the test, hire of our vehicle for the test, post test debriefing and your transport home depending on distance.
Please note that any literature ie. folder lent to you, will always be the property of Henson Driving School and in the unlikely event of changing driving school, must be returned to Simon Henson.
We are sure you will appreciate that lessons cancelled at short notice are impossible to fill, so in order to keep our charges down, we must charge 50% for lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, and the full fee for less than 24 hours notice. This will be payable on your next lesson.
Every care is taken to ensure that you receive your tuition at the agreed time but 'HENSON DRIVING SCHOOL' or its instructors cannot be held responsible for postponements or cancellations due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical failure, traffic conditions or any other valid reason. Where possible we will contact you for any delays over 15 minutes.
Due to the dropping of the paper licence in July 2015, instructors require any driving disqualifications or points on your licence or (pending faults) to be notified to your instructor at the beginning of any driving lesson. This may result in full payment for the lesson if you are found not to have a valid driving licence.
OWN VEHICLES
You may take lessons in your own vehicle but this is entirely at your own risk and we cannot be held responsible for any accidents as it will not be fitted with dual controls. Your vehicle must be in a roadworthy condition, with current road fund licence, a current MOT, a rear view mirror for the front passenger and insurance to cover your tuition. It must also display regulation size 'L' plates both front and rear. Our usual charges apply. Please note it will NOT be covered on our insurance.
OTHER INFORMATION
Your driving licence or a valid passport and old style paper licence is required for both the THEORY and the DRIVING TESTS.
Please inform your instructor within 24 hours of receiving a driving test appointment or any changes to a test appointment. This prevents unnecessary adjustments to other trainees or worse, a missed test and lost fees.
Neither 'Henson Driving School' or any of its instructors accept any responsibility for loss, or damage to trainees' property or possessions. In the interest of safety, your instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of the school vehicle for the driving test if he or she feels the trainee is not sufficiently competent.
Any books or folders given out during the lesson remain the property of Simon Henson.
We can book you a test but there will be a £10 booking fee to pay.
For your safety, and to be covered by insurance, you must inform your driving instructor of any medical problem, or of any medication you are taking which may affect your driving. Please remember to ask your doctor every time you are prescribed medication.
