HOW IT ALL WORKS
Intensive & Residential Intensive
Should I choose an Intensive Course?
The benefit of intensive courses is they will get you driving faster and you will remember more with lessons being closer together. If you need to learn to drive in a set period of time, or are travelling from further afield, this will benefit you.
How many hours should an intensive be?
Intensive Courses can be done in 4, 5 and 6 hour per day blocks. I would recommend that 40 hours is whats usually needed if you have never driven before or are finding it particularly difficult. These can be very tiring so the best way to do so is to learn in 2 blocks of 20 hours each, or three blocks of 20 then 10 then 10. Your course will usually conclude with a test at the end. Your theory test can be booked and passed in the first few days but you will need to pass your theory to take your practical test at the end.
I'm not local- what are my options?
Residential courses follow the same as Intensive courses except we can put you up in a local B&B nearby. If travelling from further afield you will be met at Kings Lynn train station to start your block of lessons and dropped back there at the end of your lessons.
What to expect
How many hours?
40 hours what I recommend for new drivers. If you have a good knowledge of driving already or have some experience, the full 40 hours may not be needed. Your best bet is to add a days lessons on top of what you think you need and be honest with yourself regarding your current abilities.
When do I book my test?
Between 28-40 hours, depending on your ability. I will advise on when you are ready to book. Please book your test yourself.
What car am I driving?
These change but currently the manual is a Ford Fiesta Titanium and the automatic is a Peugeot e208.
What do my days look like?
These are the ways your days/lessons are usually broken up:
Day 1: Controls and Manoeuvres
Day 2: Manoeuvres and Junctions
Day 3: Junctions and Roundabouts
Day 4: Roundabouts, Spiral and Dual Carriageways
Days 5,6,7&8: Practice days including Mock Tests followed by your driving test.
Do I have to do any homework?
To pass your theory test you will have to do some revision at home. You will also be given a folder with drawings and written guides to help you familiarise yourself with the area you are driving in and with manoeuvres.
I'm just doing hourly lessons. How many hours should I book?
2 hour lessons are the standard lesson length. Always book in advance if possible, or you may have to wait for last minute cancellations.
Will you pick me up?
If you live locally - within 30 minutes of West Rudham, yes I will meet you at your door. Those who live more than 30 minutes away from West Rudham usually get a lift or public transport to begin lessons in Kings Lynn rather than from their home. I can pick you up and drop you off at the train or bus station if that's easier.

After you have passed your driving test there are a number of skills you will not have covered in your regular lessons. This day is for those who have passed their driving test but who would benefit from raising confidence on the motorways, changing a tyre, overtaking, travelling to London etc.
